Welcome to Hair, Heart & Home. I’m happy you’re here!
Since this will be my first blog, let’s start with a quick get to know me. I’m Kate, and I have 25 years of experience as a hairstylist. My salon Gold Rush is located right at the base of the Foothill Mountains in Boulder, Colorado. I specialize in lived-in color, balayage, bobs and long hair. I’ve had the pleasure of transforming countless heads of hair and touching the lives of so many wonderful clients.
I am thrilled to extend our connection beyond the salon and into this digital space. I will stick to what I know best in this blog.. and that is hair, people and home life. For the most part, I will try to keep it short and sweet. You will hear my voice and you might find grammatical errors.. but you will get to know the real me. My hope to entertain and educate you on the following topics;
HAIR
In this section, I will dive into popular hair topics like; trending hairstyles, the connection between our health and hair, and I will add in styling tips tailored for busy moms, just like me.
I will highlight what sets Gold Rush apart from other salons, what you can expect from a service with me, and a simple way to incorporate using products at home.
Most of us share similar hair challenges and the solutions don’t have to be a mystery anymore!
HEART
I’m sure this will be my favorite section to share with you.
A few years back I got to thinking about what exactly is special about hairstylists, and I think the most obvious answer is the relationships we have with our clients. It occurred to me that it doesn’t really matter to my clients what classes I have attended or what specific techniques I have skills in. The truth is, hairstylists play an important role in people’s lives, and it is so much deeper than a highlight or haircut.
I am your secret keeper and a dream supporter. I have cheered loud for your wins and held space in times of loss. I am often the first to know, the one to make you laugh or just listens to you without judgment.
I am lucky enough to have earned the trust of many incredible, intelligent, badass women in Boulder and beyond.. And I want to share their stories with you. So for the heart section.. get ready to be a fly on the wall. I will be interviewing clients while I do their hair. We will talk about health, love, motherhood and more. You can expect lots of laughs, maybe some tears and total unfiltered honesty. These interviews will showcase the beauty of human connection and the joy that comes from sharing our stories. I would bet you’ll be surprised at how much we all have in common.
HOME
In this section we get into all the things we do outside of work. This is where you can find topics like mom life, interior design, travel and books. Remember how I have access to all of those interesting women? They are always happy to pass along a recommendation for a cool new restaurant in Boulder, share their favorite jewelry store or their coveted aesthetician.
Coming soon, I will post updates on the buildout of the new Gold Rush salon space! I have put so much thought into all nooks and crannies of the salon, I have thought about your visit from start to finish and tried to incorporate things to make it feel extra special. For me, design is a huge part of any experience and I can’t wait to share all the things with you.
